It’s easy enough to mock and dismiss Bud’s nonsensical collection of misdirections and outright lies… from a distance.
The truth is he is one fucking smooth talker. That’s his business. He thrived in the hornets nest of Silicon Valley
venture capitalism. His currency is talk and charisma. The things “Buzz” says in the cartoon above are all taken
from Bud’s actual claims and in cool light of day are all provably rubbish. He even mixes in the occasional truth.
Remember the first time you bought a car?
He has a long history (revealed only in whispers) of trying to bully the Santa Cruz Metro, the RTC, probably other groups, those are just ones we’ve heard from. As to why he’s now obsessed on this one issue — Prevent Light Rail — it’s hard to know. Perhaps it’s revenge to someone who couldn’t accept a simple favor.
